"As we may think"

This is a very interesting article and I was really compelled with what Bush had to say. The concept of data is very interesting and how it is stored and then retrieved is even more interesting. Technology moves so fast and it's amazing how we can acquire, retrieve, and archive certain things and then looks back at them and compare them to current technology. We can learn a lot from the past because the past shapes the future of technology so much. It is basically layered on the principles of the past and then tweaked and improved to come up with something that is much more innovative and better. Bush talked about the idea of indexing data which I never heard about, but it really caught my attention. The idea of the memex is a fascinating idea when you think of it. A machine that stores data. A series of letters, numbers, characters. All of that is important to us. We want to store it and then retrieve it. Who knew that data would be so valuable and we would have machines saving it. The luxuries of technology allow us to do that. We can save everything. Nothing will ever get lost. It's like a time machine and everything that we make is annexed in this memex.

Bush's piece really makes me think of how grand the computer really is. It is so powerful that we don't really grasp the actual physics behind it. A piece of machinery can do SO much. The types of data that it inputs and outputs is so much that if we tried to understand it, we really couldn't. Every time you browse or work on your computer, data is being transferred in and out. Technology is great, it's fast moving and it consumes our lives and we are intertwined in it and you can say that it is in our DNA.
