A Child's history of Fluxus

Reading this really made me thing about how Fluxus has come as an art movement. It really started off in an arbitrary off beat way and made itself into something big and has a good and sizable following now. The thing that makes it so great is that it has its own style and character and it always offers something new and exciting. Back then It could have been and it most likely was called "crazy" but that doesn't mean that it wasn't revolutionary and unique. It had something to offer that people weren't accustomed to. It challenged basic ideas and allowed people to think way outside of the box. It's great that "this own" movement was started because it allowed other people to get interested in art that they may have never actually shown interest in. It's amazing how art can stretch the boundaries of the actual meaning and have people engage and challenge the definitions of it and come up with new meanings that incorporate their own thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This article really gave me the history of Fluxus and showed what it rose up from and who the founding fathers were. It's always important to know where something came from and how certain things worked and for that matter didn't work. This was a movement that is still popular today and it still gets attention from artist all around the world who are passionate about it and will continue to produce art in its name.
