Fluxus' Simple History

The foundation behind Fluxus made me think of a new age vs the old age to where we get our sense of standards and practices about the world of art. The history laid out suggests simpleness was an art in its own world. George Machiuna wanted Fluxus to remain a standard of simple art that was in its own class not to be associted with any other higher popular culture. I believe that Fluxus did become a part of that very popular culture medium it tried to be against mainly because it was simply something no one would dare do. It went against cultural beliefs held in practice for years that we simply called art by people of higher ranks and classes. When other Fluxus members performed with other artists, it simply shown that there was a new standard for art to share simply because we suggested it to be.

Perhaps Machiuna wanted Fluxus to be a pure fighting class against higher standards we'd consider art and performance. By this reading, my opinion of the Fluxus group is that they did made people look at simpleness and turned it into a lifestyle that is creative as any famous medium out there. The act of simple acts is something overlooked daily generally in society. It truly takes real talent to build simple works into amazing pieces we never consider in this day and age.
